Expanded Buckwheat Range for Gluten Free Baking and Cooking By Mail Order
Despite its name Buckwheat is not related to wheat or indeed is not a true cereal and is not a member of the grass family. Buckwheat is native to central Asia, it is now grown in Europe and North America.
As it is not part of the wheat family Buckwheat and contains no gluten it is used as a substitute for wheat in some receipes and is often used in savory pancakes.
