They talk about local organic food in Leicestershire and also how our refill service for Laudry liquid, washing up liquid and fabric conditioner is showing the way in reducing environmental waste and also in saving money.

Music Day 2009

The annual music day in the yard will be held as usual on the second Saturday of July, again as usual there is a full programme from 12 noon to 12 midnight, camping is also available so come and enjoy a relaxed day in the sun with good music.

New Products in Stock

This month we have a few more new lines than we normally have, the new lines include :

• Gluten free flour – Coconut Flour from Tiana and Teff Flour, these two additions complete our range of Gluten free flours, we now can’t think of any gluten free flours we don’t stock. The full range can be seen in one section.
• Ecoleaf cleaning products – a new range of cleaning products from Suma.
• Natural Balance Bars - a great range of bars, good as a snack in your lunch box and to take on a long walk, some good fruit flavours.

We hope you enjoy these new lines that we now have available for on-line purchase and in our Cotesbach shop.

First Organic Crop of the Year

Spring seems to be well on its way, this week we have seen the first crop of the year coming from the Poly Tunnels here at Cotesbach. As usual the first crops are our ever popular Salad Packs, Rocket and Parsley, it is now three years that we have had full Organic status for the crops coming from the kitchen garden.

The organic crops from the garden will be in this weeks organic veg boxes and are also in the shop.

Later in the year we will have Organic Peppers, Courgettes, Aubergines, French Beans, Tomatoes, Basil, Kale and Carrots from the garden, also as we get into the season we will look to return to Lutterwoth Farmers Market.

Ecoleaf refills now available

We have just started to stock the Ecoleaf range of refills from Suma, the range includes :

• Fabric conditioner
• Washing-up liquid
• Laundry liquid

The Ecoleaf range is produced in the UK is vegan and adds an extra choice to our range of refills. We stock the full range of Ecover refills and between 15 to 20 Faith in Nature shampoo, conditioner and shower products.

Refilling your old bottle makes huge sense, both for you as they are much cheaper and also much better for the environment. At the moment we refill between 100 to 125 litres each week, and as each bottle saved weighs about the same as 8 plastic carrier bags, each week we save about the same as 1,000 carrier bags, or in the year some 50,000 bags, I suspect that is the same as 5 plastic carrier bags each year for every man, woman and child in Lutterworth. To put this into context Ecover who are the largest producer of refills in the UK sell over 91,000 litres of refill each year http://www.ecover.com/gb/en/Products/Dishes/Refill.htm so our total is not bad for a small shop.

Coconut Flour A new Gluten Free Flour

We have just added a new gluten free flour to our extensive range, both on-line in our shop we now stock Tiana coconut flour, this is a great flour and makes some brilliant cakes, we also stock a full range of other coconut products.

The addition of coconut flour makes our range of gluten free flour possibly the largest you will find on the web or in your shop, and of course our normal 10% discount applies if you buy a case.

Ecover and Faith in Nature Refill Service

The new Ecover Bag-in-box refill service is up and running at our Cotesbach shop. In the Ecover range we refill all possible Ecover products, this includes :

• Washing-up liquid
• Laundry Liquid
• Fabric Conditioner
• Toilet Cleaner
• Multi-Surface cleaner
• Hand Soap
• Shower Gel

The new refill bag-box system looks like they will be easier for us to work with so we hope to increase the number of refills we do this year. In terms of plastic bags last year we refilled the equivalent in terms of weight of 100,000 plastic bags. Refilling your bottles not only makes enviromental sense in is also much cheaper, so everyone is a winner !
