Large, flat green lentils that retain their shape well during cooking. Their mild flavour and soft, mealy texture make them suitable for many dishes such as soups, casseroles, vegetable bakes and stuffed vegetables.
As with all Lentils they are a great addition to your diet and are great value, especially in the larger sized bags.
Lentils keep well and have a long-shelf life.
Compared to other types of dried beans, lentils are relatively quick and easy to prepare as they don't require pre-soaking. They readily absorb a variety of wonderful flavours from other foods and seasonings and are therefore great in curries, stews and casseroles. Lentils have a high in nutritional value and are are often considered a one of natures great food treasures.
If the kids are off to University pack them off with a 5kg bag, these will last all term and you know they have some high value food in the store to fall back on in times when cash is short.
Lentils are an excellent source of molybdenum and folate. They are a very good source of dietary fiber and manganese and a good source of iron, protein, phosphorus, copper, thiamin and potassium.
