This Organic bulgar wheat comes from Turkey or France: It is wholewheat grains that have been partially cooked, dried and cracked which means that it cooks quite quickly in around 10 to 15 minutes. Bulghar can be added to many dishes to thicken them and to provide texture and flavour, or cooked in stock and served as an alternative to rice, pasta or potatoes.
Use a saucepan with a lid. Put 1/2 cup of bulghur wheat per person in the saucepan. Cover with boiling water to 3cm above the level of the wheat. Simmer for 10-15 minutes. It will be done when all of the water is absorbed. The bulghur wheat will be light and fluffy, and there should be no need to drain it at this point.
