Quinoa flakes are a popular gluten-free alternative to wheat or oatmeal, and are great for baking or with breakfast. They're low in fat and high in fibre too.
This is an everyday size pack of these little flakes made from the whole grain quinoa which like the grains themselves are small and round. The pack carries the Crossed Grain symbol to show the gluten free status. They are probably the prettiest of all the flakes! Being small they are very quick to cook, thickening into a porridge in just a minute or two and good as part of a gluten free museli mix too. They are a good source of protein and calcium and were prized by the Incas who were growing and eating it over 3000 years ago.
The price of Quinoa has fluctuated a lot over recent years as the demand has increased over recent years - this should settle down hopefully as supply is stepped up (including some grown in the UK, as yet not organic though, by Hodmedods)
