A prune is a dried plum: but while all prunes are plums, not all plums can become prunes! To become a prune, a plum needs to have a soft, thin and sweet skin, with the fruit full of natural sugar, to aid preservation.
Our prunes come from France and California. We buy larger prunes to ensure that the fruit is soft and sweet. These natural dried prunes have a moisture content of around 23%.
We sell dried prunes in a variety of pack sizes and types. Click here to see them all. Prunes are one of the most popular of all our dried fruits - their sweet, rich flavour is better than any processed sweet!

The combination of fibre, natural sugars and antioxidants in prunes, as well as their great flavour, make them a superb healthy snack. Prunes also have a strong humectant (water-absorbing) effect, making them useful as a replacement for fat in baking.
