Do you know why dates are called dates? The name comes from the Ancient Greek word 'daktulos', which means 'finger'. When dates hang on the tree, they look like bunches of little fingers! Grown in very dry climates, the date palm is an incredibly resilient plant and provides a reliable source of income for farmers in difficult environments.
