These dried dates are deliciously sweet, soft and easy to eat and have no stones in. These are the Deglet Noor variety (meaning the date of light) which are firm enough to eat from the bag but easy to chop and cook with. Made into a puree they are a useful and nutritious sweetener.
You may also like the Medjool Dates which are very soft and come with the stones (pits) still in.
Do you know why dates are called dates? Its because when they hang on the tree, they look like bunches of little fingers and the Ancient Greek word for finger is daktulos, a little like date! If you need something thats naturally sweet, try a date: its better than a toffee, but tastes just like one!
