Gluten-free cake mixes - order from Naturally Good Food
When you remove gluten from your diet, you might think that you'll never be able to have cakes again! If that's too terrible a thought, don't worry - help is at hand! We offer a range of easy-to-make cake, muffin, and brownie mixes that mean you'll never have to miss out on cakes. There are two ranges, the very popular Orgran range and the slightly more indulgent Hale & Hearty range. Both are, of course, free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives, and the Hale and Hearty range is organic too.
It's not just cakes: we have the Hale & Hearty brownie mix (which includes delicious chocolate drops and pure bourbon vanilla), and the Orgran muffin mixes, available in chocolate. They're easy to bake, so are a handy way of making dessert if you have surprise guests with a gluten-intolerance. Their long life means that they're convenient to keep in your cupboard for cake emergencies!
As with all good cakes, you want a choice. At Naturally Good Food we offer cake mixes in both chocolate and vanilla.
If you're lactose-intolerant as well, both the Orgran cakes and the Hale & Hearty range are also dairy-free - just add water, eggs (or Orgran Egg Replacer) and margarine. They're low in fat too: you can bake a cake that's up to 97% fat-free with either mix!
The Hale & Hearty organic cakes are rice- and quinoa-based and a little richer (they can be made with regular or soya milk for extra richness), and also come in both vanilla and chocolate flavour. In addition, they have a delicious American-style chocolate brownie mix that gives a great home-made brownie texture - springy and cake-y on the outside, but lovely and gooey in the middle.
All of the mixes can be made to suit vegan recipes, and are easy to prepare; you can go from nought to cake in less than 45 minutes, including baking! The Hale & Hearty range is wholegrain as well, making these cakes a tasty way to add fibre to a gluten-free diet.
Orgran offer a chocolate muffin mix as well as a lemon and poppyseed mix. Both are really quick to prepare and suprisingly healthy - they can be made up to 97% fat-free. Of course, you can make them a bit more indulgent than that (and who could blame you?), perhaps adding some melted chocolate icing using the gluten-free Green & Blacks cooking chocolate, or putting some sultanas into the lemon and poppyseed mix.
