These lovely ready cooked pulses get their name from the black dot on the side, where they were attached to the stalk of the bean plant. They can be mushed down to make the base for vegetarian burgers or pate, or used in a stew or mix.
My favourite Black Eyed Bean recipe is Black Eye Bean Bake which uses dry beans, but to save time you can use canned.
